In this Battle, Nobody Wins
As many of my author friends know, there has been a battle between Hachette the publisher and Amazon the retailer. Recently I was asked to be on NPR to discuss the situation. Here's the link to the interview for those who asked.
Really this is a battle nobody wins. The publisher sees revenues fall. The authors books are not sold on Amazon at the level they had been. The consumer who buys from Amazon doesn't have the same option of price and convenience and Amazon keeps getting punched in the media for its "business tactics."
It's a complicated situation. It's also not the first time a retailer has chosen not to carry a publisher's books for ulterior motives.
